Aecris is an expertly-crafted longsword. The steel blade is inlaid with platinum, and a line of three white diamonds are set into the flat of the blade on each side near the hilt. The pommel is carved to resemble the head of a noble lion.
Aecris was forged by the legendary smith Valan Argentite, a monk of Bahamut. The sword was carried by various warriors, most of great renown, over the years. Aecris was given to Sir Keegan Norcross by the High Cleric of Bahamut after Emperor Carcalla himself knighted the young warrior with the sword. Sir Keegan carried it until his death, during the Battle of Raventree Keep, and his men buried it with him in the crypts below the fallen castle.
Recently, the sword was recovered from the crypts by the adventurer Kedrick Killmeister, a paladin of Erathis. Kedrick first used the sword in freeing captives from the nearby town of Haven from the clutches of an evil wight and his undead minions. After that, he and his companions journeyed to the small barony of Harkenwold, where they joined a rebellion against an Escataran lord named Baron Andres Teso who had imprisoned the rightful ruler and instituted a harsh regime over the local people. With the aid of Aecris, Kedrick and his allies united local groups under one banner, overcame the evil baron’s army in battle, and then infiltrated his stronghold to defeat him. Once Teso was defeated, and the many clerics he had slain were laid to peaceful rest, Aecris disappeared from Kedrick’s possession. Its current location is unknown.
Aecris is said to be a powerful force for good, and legend has it that it seeks out warriors with promise in order to lead them to find their own great destiny.
